Margrét Oddsdóttir, MD had a profound influence on many physicians’ careers, professionally and personally. She helped shape their practices and surgical expertise and experience, while also shaping the Icelandic health system. Dr. Oddsdottir’s lifelong commitment to international education and research has enriched the world of many surgeons, which is why the SAGES Education & Research Foundation has set up The Margrét Oddsdóttir International Traveling Fellowship Award.
We ask you to consider contributing to a new fund that we hope to establish in Margrét’s name. The goal of the endowment fund is to initially raise $100,000 and use the annual spin-off to offset travel expenses for one promising surgeon and allied health professional to attend SAGES. The Margrét Oddsdóttir Traveling Fellowship is an international traveling fellowship that is open to all applicants, with preference given to women.
The fund is administered through the SAGES Foundation and given at the SAGES Annual Meeting each year. The first award will be presented in 2012 Sages Meeting then given annually should a presentation of merit exist each year. Contributions should be made to the SAGES Education and Research Foundation in care of the Margrét Oddsdóttir International Traveling Fellowship Fund. Please be sure to state this on your check or credit card form.
